H&C® Holographic and Deco-Flakes
H&C Holographic Flakes are now available in 1 ounce jars. These small hexagon-shaped flakes can be mixed with the original Deco-Flake blend from the kit, or dispersed alone over the wet epoxy. These reflective flakes give any floor a dazzling, sparkling look that's totally unique. When used in conjuntion with the Night Sky color of H&C Shield-Crete Epoxy, it makes the floor look just like... a night sky!
H&C Shield-Crete Deco-Flakes provide a unique decorative finish to your H&C Shield-Crete Epoxy Concrete Garage Floor project. They are available in various blends: pewter, ivory/beige, red and now a black/green blend as well as Holographic Flakes!
A 1-pound bag is included in every H&C Shield-Crete Epoxy kit, however they are also sold seperately if extra flakes are desired. The 1-pound bag is sufficient for every 200-250 square foot area (a one-car garage), at about 25% coverage. The flakes are vinyl, a form of latex, so they are extremely safe to use.
Where to Use
Garage floors are just the beginning!™ H&C Shield-Crete Epoxy Concrete Garage Floor Coating can be used on basement floors, or any interior concrete floor. It can be used in some full outdoor applications, but the sun's UV rays may diminish the gloss finish, as well as fade the color over time.

Key Advantages
H&C Deco-flakes and Holographic Flakes help hide imperfections on the floor like small cracks, or minor pitting. They add a bit of extra traction as well. The quart of H&C Deco-Flakes contains 24 ounces of flakes, slightly more than the 16 ounces/1 pound included in the kit. Feel free to use any blend with any of the 8 colors of H&C Shield-Crete Epoxy Concrete Garage Floor Coating, mix and match!

Product Application
Simply toss the H&C Deco-Flakes high into the air onto the wet epoxy so they fall evenly like snowflakes. The higher you toss, the more evenly they will fall. Avoid the "chicken feed" method - or tossing from waist level. This will result in patches of flakes. It is not uncommon for people to practice "the toss" onto a dry, uncoated surface and sweep them up for later use.
Similar to faux finish painting, it's a good idea to have the same person tossing the flakes (behind the person rolling out the epoxy). This way the same technique is used for the entire project.
Use walls and corners as backboards for those hard-to-reach areas.
If flakes are used, we highly recommend using H&C Shield-Crete Acrylic Clear Glaze as a clear topcoat to lock in those flakes. If the Glaze is not used, the floor will appear dirty quickly because dirt gets trapped around those little crevasses. The Glaze makes for much easier clean-up in the future.
